Tonight we welcome a line up of musical innovators that are reshaping genres and influencing the game like no other. Opening the top is DJ/producer softchaos, whose selections and performances aim to disrupt codification, instead proposing ways that incorporate intention, sensitivity and a hint of mischievousness. Pairing groove-driven music with aggressive percussive tracks and far-reaching techno, weaving and experimenting with genre meticulously in acts of reclamation, softchaos is a disruptor of the most intoxicating kind. Dominican Republic-born Kelman Duran brings his emotionally-charged Afro-Caribbean productions, while Miami’s Coffintexts explores an ample palette of dance classics, bass heavy techno and wild riddims. Closing down the night with some Miami heat is DJ/producer Nick Leon. Cutting his teeth in the world of hip-hop with some of South Florida’s biggest rappers, Leon has since catapulted himself deeper into the world of electronic experimentations, fusing heavy bass with dembow and reggaeton rhythms in swirls of synthetic mutations. Downstairs, DJ Thank You and flotussin bring deep, driving techno that will keep you locked into the groove.
